In June 0f 2013 Ginny and Roger Biada founded the Medina Personal Care Pantry to serve families in need in Medina and surrounding areas. The pantry was originally hosted by New Direction Church, which held services within The Learning Garden Day Care Center in Medina. The very first pantry served only 8-10 clients but grew rapidly as the need in the community was great. In our earliest beginnings, volunteers funded the pantry through personal donations and community collections at a local grocery store, with the understanding, that everything received, was given away.
Things weren't always easy for the pantry. The pantry moved several times over the years, first to City Center Church located in the center of Medina, and later found a long term home at Living Hope Church. Every location was warm and welcoming, with church members partnering with the pantry advocates during our stay.
Collections and donations from our local Discount Drug Mart, Kiwanis, individuals, churches, schools, sports teams, various local businesses and other organizations have continued to sustain the pantry over the years. Throughout our journey, the personal care pantry has gathered volunteers and clients from the heart of Medina while continuing to serve and support families and seniors in need. Most recently the next chapter of our journey found us relocating to Medina Presbyterian Church in July 2022.
What makes this organization special is that we are community helping community. We are currently staffed by a team of volunteers, with different backgrounds and professions, partnering as an interdenominational Christian ministry. We recognize that everyone just needs a little help sometimes. Our goal is not only to provide those personal care and cleaning items that we all need, but most importantly, share the gift of hope and love that we all deserve.
If you would like to join our very important mission, please contact us. We would love to serve and partner with you!
